Milan team news vs Cagliari: Triple boost but key trio doubtful

AC Milan host Cagliari on Saturday night, and Stefano Pioli has key selection decisions to make for the Serie A encounter.

The Rossoneri are now looking to consolidate second place in the standings in our final three games this season, and amid speculation of significant changes coming this summer, all concerned should be striving to finish the campaign on a positive note.

It didn’t go to plan last time out in our 3-3 draw with Genoa, and we’re now winless in our last six games across all competitions as our struggles continue.

However, it’s hoped that we can produce an improved, and ultimately winning, performance this weekend, to give the San Siro faithful something to get behind before the end of the year.

As per MilanNews, Pioli will be boosted by the return of Luka Jovic from injury, while both Yunus Musah and Davide Calabria will be available again after serving their respective suspensions.

In contrast, it’s expected that Mike Maignan, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Simon Kjaer will miss out again, as they continue to do individual sessions at Milanello in their recoveries from setbacks.

With that in mind, Marco Sportiello, Matteo Gabbia and Samuel Chukwueze are likely to continue to fill those voids in the Milan starting line-up, while Calabria at least will perhaps be restored to the XI as well.

Cagliari travel to Milan desperate for three points as they continue to fight off the threat of relegation, and so whoever Pioli goes with must step up and produce a big display this weekend if we’re to secure all three points and a morale-boosting victory.

It’s undoubtedly been an underwhelming and frustrating season on the whole given our inability to achieve our objectives and having fallen significantly short of them in the end. Although those touted changes are expected this summer, there remains a duty for the current group to win these final three games this season, and we’ll hopefully see the start of that more positive run this Saturday.
