Official: Milan confirm Tommaso Pobega loan deal to join Torino for season

AC Milan have officially announced that Tommaso Pobega has joined Torino on a season-long loan deal.

The 22-year-old impressed on loan at Spezia last season, and he would undoubtedly have had hopes of breaking into the Rossoneri side this year.

Having been involved over pre-season with the senior squad, it looked as though he might be given a chance to impress, but ultimately the decision has been made to send him out on loan again after an agreement was reached with Torino, as per the club’s official site.

It’s hoped that the experience allows Pobega to get regular playing time to improve and develop his game, and that in turn should put him in a strong position to make a case to be involved at Milan next season.

Stefano Pioli does have plenty of options in those midfield roles ahead of Pobega in the pecking order with Franck Kessie, Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali at his disposal, while it’s expected that a deal announcing Tiemoue Bakayoko’s return on loan is imminent.

That in turn should give us enough experience, competition and depth to compete on multiple fronts this season, and with that likely to have negatively impacted Pobega’s hopes of playing, a loan move is perhaps the best move for all concerned.

Pobega scored six goals and provided three assists in 20 appearances for Spezia last year, and so he’ll hope to build on those numbers and showcase his talent and improvement with Torino in the coming months.
