AC Milan are reportedly in negotiations with midfielder Ismael Bennacer over terminating his contract and ending his stint with the club.
The 28-year-old became a fundamental part of our success after joining us from Empoli in 2019, as he went on to make 178 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals and providing 12 assists to go with his influence in midfield.
However, injuries and falling down the pecking order have led to a lesser role and doubts over his future with the Rossoneri in recent times, as he has been sent out on loan stints with Marseille and Dinamo Zagreb over the past couple of seasons to suggest that he would eventually move on permanently.

With a new head coach in place this summer after the appointment of Ruben Amorim, it appears as though Bennacer doesn’t feature in our plans moving forward, and so talks are taking place over finding a solution that suits both parties.
According to Antonio Vitiello, Milan and Bennacer are negotiating the termination of his contract, as the Algerian international will join Al Shamal having already agreed on personal terms with them.
Given how crucial of a presence he once was for us in midfield, it’s a shame that Bennacer’s time as a Milan player hasn’t gone on to finish in an ideal way, as he still has a year remaining on his current deal with the club.
Nevertheless, it now makes perfect sense to go our separate ways and make a fresh start, as he’ll get a more prominent role and a lucrative deal with Al Shamal, while Milan are evidently moving in a different direction in midfield under Amorim and he will want to bring in his preferred options that suit his system and style of play better.
Removing Bennacer’s salary from the wage bill will help control that too from a financial perspective, and so it’s hoped that the decision works out for all concerned moving forward.
