Milan close in on critical appointments as key duo tipped to arrive

AC Milan are reportedly closing in on reaching agreements to appoint Ruben Amorim and Markus Krosche as head coach and Head of Football respectively.

The Rossoneri endured a bitterly disappointing campaign last year, finishing fifth in the Serie A standings and thus missing out on Champions League qualification.

In turn, changes were immediately made at various levels of the hierarchy, as well as Massimiliano Allegri departing after ultimately failing to deliver on the minimum objective set.

It hasn’t taken long for Milan to find his successor, as Fabrizio Romano reports that Ruben Amorim has now agreed on a deal to become our next boss, with the contract said to run until June 2028, with an option to extend for a further 12 months.

The Portuguese tactician’s appointment is expected to be officially announced this week, and so that will be a major step forward as Milan look to regroup and rebuild this summer and hopefully show significant improvement on last season.

His spell at Manchester United ultimately didn’t go to plan after arriving in November 2024 before being dismissed in January earlier this year, but it’s his spell at Sporting that saw him stand out as a top coach in Europe, and so it’s hoped that the fit with Milan is one that sees the best of him emerge to guide us on this next chapter.

Amorim isn’t the only touted appointment that is close either, as Romano also reports that the Rossoneri are closing in on a deal to bring in Krosche as the new Head of Football at the club.

Having gained valuable experience as sporting director at the likes of RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt, the 45-year-old will potentially now play a pivotal role in recruitment for Milan, and it’s hoped that these appointments have been decided upon as a collective project and idea, with synergy between the prospective new coach and Head of Football, as they must work together to raise the level of the playing squad this summer to develop and establish a new style and identity.

The Milan ownership, specifically Gerry Cardinale, as well as club official Zlatan Ibrahimovic, have deservedly come in for criticism in recent months with others being dismissed after our failures last season, and while that frustration and anger towards them won’t subside immediately, it’s hoped at least that their latest appointments and ideas are the foundation for success moving forward.
