AC Milan have reportedly seen their proposal to Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche rejected.
The Rossoneri are making key changes this summer, with Ruben Amorim confirmed as our new boss to replace Massimiliano Allegri earlier this week.
With further exits confirmed following the conclusion of a bitterly disappointing campaign last year, bringing in a new Head of Football is one of the top decisions yet to be made by the club’s hierarchy.
However, as per Sky Sport’s Florian Plettenberg, Krosche, who had emerged as the priority target for the role, has rejected Milan’s proposal and will stay with Eintracht Frankfurt.
It’s added that Krosche didn’t ask to leave even though he was flattered by the interest shown in him by Milan, and despite talks being held, the Rossoneri will have to look elsewhere and consider alternative candidates for the position.
Bild report that Milan were prepared to offer the 45-year-old a significant contract, a hefty €700m transfer budget moving forward and full control over the squad and staff.
However, that seemingly wasn’t enough to convince him to leave his current job, and time will tell if Milan have other names in mind and how quickly we move to bring one of them in.
It will be interesting to see if the appointment of Amorim has any influence on the decision, as ideally our coach and Head of Football will share a strategy and view of how they want to rebuild the squad to make us competitive again, and so the Portuguese tactician could possibly have more input in the outcome with time to reflect now ahead.
Regardless though, what is absolutely vital is that the club bring in the best person for the job, as our recruitment must improve moving forward having been a major disappointment and key factor in our underwhelming season last time out.
Krosche was evidently highly rated by the Milan ownership based on the touted proposal above, but if that particular door is now closed, we’ll hopefully find an alternative option that proves to be equally as ideal a fit for what we’re looking to build in both the short term and long term future.
