AC Milan are reportedly on the verge of reaching an agreement with Luka Modric to extend his stay at the club this season.
The 40-year-old joined us last summer and went on to feature in 37 games, scoring two goals and providing three assists as he showed that he still has plenty left to offer.
Further, he showed his class on the international stage at the World Cup this summer too, and with the Rossoneri beginning a new cycle under Ruben Amorim, it could be argued that it’s imperative that we keep the Croatian stalwart in the squad to help lead this fresh start for one more season.

According to Sky Sport Italia’s Peppe Di Stefano, as reported by MilanNews, all that now remains between Milan and Modric is to finalise the agreement and sign his new contract as he insists that the two parties are now very close to announcing that the midfield legend will stay with us for his final season.
It’s hoped that this proves to be the case and that an announcement is imminent, as although Modric will likely play a reduced a role to an extent, his leadership, qualities, experience and class will no doubt make a significant difference in the dressing room and on the pitch.
For Amorim, he will certainly lean on his trusted stalwart to lead by example and be his leader in the side when involved, and so as we transition not only from one coach to another but also to a new style and system under the Portuguese tactician, Modric’s tactical intelligence will no doubt prove to be invaluable.
Milan moved quickly to bring in new signings this summer with Mario Gila and Goncalo Ramos joining the club to strengthen our defence and attack respectively, and while further incomings and outgoings are expected, having that sense of familiarity and stability that Modric can provide could prove to be critical to how our season goes this year.
