Interest shown in Milan ace with key asking price touted

AC Milan forward Santiago Gimenez is reportedly attracting interest from Porto with a minimum asking price being touted at €21m.

The 25-year-old joined the Rossoneri from Feyenoord in January 2025, and he has since gone on to score seven goals and provide six assists in 37 appearances for the club.

With changes being made this summer as Ruben Amorim has been appointed as Massimiliano Allegri’s successor, a rebuild of the squad is expected to some extent to suit the Portuguese tactician’s demands and ideas.

In turn, it’s unclear at this stage if Gimenez is part of his plans given it’s still early in the summer and the Milan boss will surely want to assess all of the options at his disposal, but as per Antonio Vitiello, Porto have shown a strong interest in the Mexican international and so it remains to be seen if that develops into a formal offer.

Vitiello adds in his report that in order for Milan to avoid making a loss on the striker, a fee of around €21m would be the minimum figure that the club are likely to accept, and so time will tell if that’s an asking price that the Portuguese giants are prepared to meet.

It’s been a modest return from Gimenez up to this point after Milan spent a significant fee to acquire his services, but ultimately if he is well suited to Amorim’s preferred system and style of play, then perhaps he’ll get a fresh chance to prove his worth with us.

However, if it’s the opposite and Amorim wants to bring in attacking reinforcements that he feels are a better fit, then that reported interest from Porto could be a crucial way to balance our books and fund our own signings this summer.

It’s going to be a busy summer for Milan as plenty of incomings and outgoings are expected at the club in the coming weeks, but it’s just hoped that Amorim is left with a stronger squad than the one he inherited when the new season gets underway, and in turn that Milan are a more competitive side this year having fallen short of our objectives last time round.
