AC Milan continue to be linked with a move for Olivier Giroud in the summer transfer window, and the Frenchman would be a sensible addition to the squad.
The 34-year-old will see his current contract with Chelsea expire this summer, ending a three-and-a-half-year stint at Stamford Bridge following a productive spell with Arsenal prior to that.

The French international scored 11 goals in 31 appearances this past season, despite largely being used as a back-up option by Frank Lampard and his successor Thomas Tuchel, thus proving that he can still deliver when called upon at the top level.
As per Antonio Vitiello of MilanNews, there are ongoing talks between Milan and Giroud in a bid to find an agreement on a contract, and so it remains to be seen if the two parties can reach a compromise and seal his move to San Siro in the coming weeks.
With that in mind, would he be a good signing for the Rossoneri?
Giroud fills a void, provides key dynamic for Milan attack
With Mario Mandzukic’s time at Milan over, there is a glaring void in the current squad in terms of a back-up option for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to lead the line.
The Croatian stalwart’s ongoing injury issues during the second half of the campaign almost proved costly in our scrap for Champions League qualification, as Ibrahimovic’s absence and the lack of depth that in turn left us with made life more difficult.
Ante Rebic, Rafael Leao and others tried to step in, and while the former did enjoy success at times with key goals, we were still missing a focal point up top to lead the line and offer us a real physical presence in the final third for others to work off too a target man with delivered into the box.
That’s where Giroud comes in. Not only does he boast plenty of experience and pedigree at the top level, but he gives us an option to spearhead our attack and to bring others into play to make our attack more varied and dynamic.
Milan need to add more quality in and around the frontman too as the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu and Samu Castillejo were inconsistent and ineffective over the course of the season, but having Giroud as an option to step in for Ibrahimovic and even push the Swede for a starting berth is a necessity for Milan this summer.
Naturally, it helps that he’s available on a free transfer which makes the swoop all the more sensible, and so it’s hoped that this is a deal that Milan can get over the line and bring Giroud into the fold ahead of the new campaign.
