Who is Amine Adli? Analysis of youngster linked with AC Milan transfer

AC Milan reportedly hold an interest in Toulouse ace Amine Adli as we look to strengthen our attacking options this summer,

As per Footmercato, it’s suggested that the Rossoneri already have an agreement with the 21-year-old on personal terms, but a deal hasn’t yet been struck with the Ligue 2 outfit.

It’s added that Adli could command a transfer fee of around €15m, and so time will tell if he’s done enough to warrant Milan stumping up such a hefty fee and if it’s enough to convince Toulouse to green light an exit.

The question is though, how good is Adli?

Stats, playing style and analysis

Capped at U18 level for France, Adli has scored eight goals and provided seven assists in 33 appearances for Toulouse this season, which in turn earned him the award for the best player in Ligue 2 this season.

Comfortable playing in his natural role as a second striker, he also has the ability to play on the right wing, and so that level of versatility and what’s needed in our current squad combined would see him address a key issue for Stefano Pioli in the final third.

Alexis Saelemaekers has proven to be a smart addition, but combined with Samu Castillejo, the pair haven’t done enough from an attacking sense and lack that creative spark and quality to really make a difference for us in the final third.

As seen in the video below, Adli is technically gifted and has an elegant playing style, while he offers a real threat on the right side when cutting in on his preferred left foot to create assists for his teammates while also being a direct threat for opposition defenders too.

There is also a sense of tactical savvy about him in terms of his runs off the ball and the timing of his movement, and those kind of traits in a young player will no doubt stand out to Milan scouts about his overall awareness and cleverness out on the pitch.

He also provides a great change of pace to get past his marker, and while he obviously still has plenty of room for development and improvement, his vision and ability to pick out the right pass is also a great early indication as well as his composure in front of goal.

It’s a big step up from Ligue 2 to Serie A, should a move to Milan materialise this summer, but there is plenty to be impressed with from Adli, and if he were to join a young Rossoneri squad and develop alongside them into a top player, he could be a dangerous addition to the team.

Given those who have previously played in that position for us though, Milan will be under pressure to get this one right as they search for a long-term solution.
