That included some crucial goals in the final stretch of the campaign which helped us secure Champions League qualification, and so Diaz certainly emerged as a key member of the squad.

Brahim Diaz deal close, Jovic and Odriozola interest too

According to Sky Sport Italia, talks between Milan and Real Madrid are now moving towards an agreement over an initial loan deal with an option to buy included for €25m.

However, it’s added that the La Liga giants will potentially get a buy-back option at around €30m, and while there are still details to confirm including on how the fee will be paid, it’s suggested that a deal is now close.

Further, that might not be the only business that the two clubs do together this summer, as it’s suggested that Alvaro Odriozola and Luka Jovic could also be on Milan’s radar as they consider their options in those two areas of the squad.

Diogo Dalot and Olivier Giroud are noted as being our preferred targets, but if agreements can’t be reached for that pair, then the Real Madrid duo could emerge as more likely solutions ahead of the new campaign.

Calhanoglu void to be filled, Diaz key addition

For now though, it will be a boost to see Diaz return as he showed enough last season to suggest that he can continue to be a pivotal player for Stefano Pioli, and naturally, as he gains experience, matures and develops his game, it’s hoped that he will become more influential.

Milan have a void to fill this summer after Hakan Calhanoglu’s exit, and while some of that responsibility will likely fall on Diaz’s shoulders, it would come as no surprise if Milan assess the market and look to bring in another playmaker to ensure we have enough quality and depth to compete on multiple fronts next season.
