What Sergio Conceicao said in assessment of Milan’s win vs Venezia

AC Milan boss Sergio Conceicao was pleased with his side after we followed up our win over Inter in midweek with a 2-0 victory at Venezia on Sunday.

The Rossoneri booked our spot in the Coppa Italia Final earlier in the week, but our Serie A form this season hasn’t been consistent or good enough.

That in turn has left us with significant ground to make up to qualify for Europe through that route with games running out, and so it’s imperative that we finish the campaign well to build momentum and consistency ahead of the Final next month.

Conceicao conceded that he hasn’t magically found all the necessary solutions after a positive week, but he was happy with what he saw from his players on Sunday and hopefully we can continue to build on it.

‘It was a dangerous match, we won in a fantastic way against Inter, today knowing the group, what they have shown this year, I didn’t sleep well, because I knew we had to come here to Venice and it wasn’t easy at all,” he told the media, as per MilanNews.

“I have no regrets, I didn’t have a magic wand to change everything from one day to the next. It was normal, I’m not saying that everything will be fine now, but let’s try to be more consistent in our game and mentality.

“Conceicao is not important at the moment. We are thinking about the league, trying to win against Bologna, then what happens to me, Allegri, or others, does not concern me. Why Allegri? Because you always talk about him.

“Yes, the final pass was missing, the conclusion on goal, we could have closed it out earlier.”

Speculation remains rife over his future at Milan, as the overriding expectation remains that he’ll be replaced once the season concludes after an indifferent tenure thus far, but he continues to deal with the rumours well.

Our win this weekend moves us to within six points of fourth place in the standings having played a game more than most of our rivals, and so time will tell if a big finish to the campaign is enough to perhaps stake a convincing claim to remain in contention for the job beyond this season.

The focus for all concerned for now though has to be Genoa, Bologna, Roma and Monza in our remaining league outings, and then the Rossoblu once more in our opportunity to win more silverware this year.
