What Sergio Conceicao said in assessment of Milan’s brilliant win vs Inter

AC Milan boss Sergio Conceicao was delighted after seeing his side secure a 3-0 win over Inter in the second leg of our Coppa Italia semi-final tie.

The Rossoneri advance to the final after a 4-1 victory on aggregate, with a Luka Jovic double and a late Tijjani Reijnders strike securing our passage through.

Although Inter applied plenty of pressure in the first half, it was a clinical display from Milan as we took our chances and subsequently took control of the tie, and it was a memorable night in what has often been a difficult and disappointing season.

Conceicao was keen to praise his players and the fans after the game as he was thrilled that all concerned could enjoy such a positive result, but naturally there was a hint of frustration too given our inconsistency and disappointment across all competitions over the course of the campaign when we are capable of playing at this level.

“What we showed today we haven’t been able to show many times in the league,” he told the media at his post-match press conference, as per MilanNews. ‘If we had been humble, with this attitude, I’m not saying that in the league it would have been a walk in the park, but we would have done something different. I’m very happy for the boys. Inter are a very strong team, I have a lot of respect for them,

“Sometimes the episodes turn in our favour, other times not. Like Atalanta, who had not passed the halfway line and then scored on one of our mistakes. We have to find this consistency because we have players with technical quality, then we also have to add something else in football.

“I’m fine now. A little more relaxed. I take the problems home. We have to find this consistency in this final part of the season. I told the players, every action we had we have to be focused at all times.

“I want to hug all the players. I thank the fans who have been wonderful. They have so much patience with the team. This final is mainly for them.”

Milan will now prepare to face Venezia on Sunday as we look to end the Serie A campaign with some positive form, and that in turn will hopefully help us build momentum and belief heading into the Coppa Italia final next month.

Bologna host Empoli in the other semi-final on Thursday night with a 3-0 advantage from the first leg, and so it remains to be seen if they can complete the job and book a meeting with us to contest the trophy.

Either way, Milan are now just one game away from lifting another piece of silverware this season, and Conceicao will no doubt have his players more than ready to take on that challenge when it comes round.
