How Milan could line up vs Como: Potential key changes from Conceicao

AC Milan face Como on Tuesday evening, as the Rossoneri look to secure three important points in our bid to climb the Serie A standings.

After our Italian Super Cup triumph, Milan were unable to follow that up with a win in Sergio Conceicao’s first league game in charge as we were held to a 1-1 draw by Cagliari this past weekend.

In turn, particularly after that disappointment of dropping points in a game we should have won, the focus now switches to getting all three points in midweek to give ourselves a boost in the league.

Conceicao was far from happy with our performance last time out, as it went beyond the errors for the goal we conceded and the wastefulness we showed in front of goal, and so a big reaction is expected.

That said, he could look to the same players to produce that response with minimal changes, as MilanNews, suggest that Emerson Royal could come in to replace Davide Calabria at right-back as he returns from suspension, in our only change to the side that started last weekend.

That in turn would mean Mike Maignan continues between the posts as he looks to bounce back from his mistake for Cagliari’s equaliser, while Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw and Theo Hernandez will complete the backline.

Our midfield trio could remain the same with Yunus Musah, Youssouf Fofana and Tijjani Reijnders looking to impose themselves and give us all-important control of tempo and possession, while Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao should provide support out wide behind Alvaro Morata in the final third.

Alessandro Florenzi, Samuel Chukwueze and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are set to miss out due to injury, while Noah Okafor will play no part as he closes in on an exit from Milan this week.

It remains to be seen if Conceicao is considering making additional changes, as it’s felt as though Matteo Gabbia, Ismael Bennacer and Tammy Abraham could all be in with a shout of starting as we look to rotate to not only keep everyone fresh, but also for the Milan boss to take a good look at all the players at his disposal.

Sky Sport suggest that Bennacer is in line to start, and so it will be interesting to see his influence in midfield as remains a potentially key figure in the side moving forward.

Regardless of personnel though, it’s absolutely critical that Milan get a win in this one as we look to close the gap on the teams at the top end of the Serie A table, and put ourselves in contention for a Champions League qualifying spot at the very least.

Predicted AC Milan XI vs Como: Maignan; Emerson, Tomori, Thiaw, Theo; Bennacer, Fofana, Reijnders; Pulisic, Morata, Leao.
