AC Milan have officially announced the signing of Olivier Giroud from Chelsea, with the French striker signing a two-year contract.
Giroud, 34, has enjoyed a highly-successful career which has included spells with Arsenal and Chelsea in the Premier League, while he has 46 goals in 110 caps for France.

With Milan looking for quality depth up front to support Zlatan Ibrahimovic, we have moved to sign Giroud to provide that particular solution, with the club’s official site confirming the deal and that he’ll wear the No.9 jersey for us, while Antonio Vitiello reports that that he has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, with the option to extend for a third.
The Rossoneri struggled without a focal point up top last season with Ibrahimovic missing a number of games through injury, while Mario Mandzukic also had injury issues which prevented him from offering a helping hand.
In turn, the Milan hierarchy have moved to address that concern this summer, and with our return to the Champions League in mind, Giroud’s experience, pedigree and winning mentality will no doubt be key attributes that add to the squad next season.
There is perhaps some concern over the respective ages of our top two options in attack, and so it remains to be seen if the Rossoneri choose to add a younger striker this summer too to complete our frontline, but the Giroud addition in itself is a sensible move.
