AC Milan have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Antonio Mirante on a short-term deal which will see him stay until the end of the season.
The Rossoneri were dealt a major blow this week as it was confirmed by the club that Mike Maignan would be absent for 10 weeks after undergoing surgery on his wrist.

That in turn means Ciprian Tatarusanu is expected to step up and fill the void, but with Alessandro Plizzari also currently sidelined by injury, Stefano Pioli was short of options between the posts.
As confirmed by Milan, Mirante has been signed until the end of the current campaign, with the experienced shot-stopper available on a free transfer after his exit from Roma over the summer.
Mirante, 38, has racked up over 400 career appearances across spells with the likes of Parma, Bologna and Roma, and so a lack of experience certainly won’t be an issue for him stepping into a high-pressure situation giving what Milan are competing for this season.
It’s hoped that he offers solid competition for Tatarusanu in the coming weeks and months, and also that Maignan makes a full and speedy recovery to return to his place at the top of the pecking order within that touted 10-week recovery period.
Nevertheless, it’s a smart move from Milan to ensure we have enough depth in that area of the squad, and with Mirante set to be included in the Champions League squad too, he’ll be available if needed by Pioli in what will be a pivotal time of the season heading into the festive period as we look to stay in the hunt on multiple fronts.
