AC Milan secured a 3-2 win over Atalanta in Bergamo on Sunday night, with goals from Davide Calabria, Sandro Tonali and Rafael Leao.
The Rossoneri came flying out the blocks as Calabria broke the deadlock after just 35 seconds, while Tonali and Leao added a goal apiece to put us in complete control.

While the hosts mounted a mini-comeback in the latter stages, it wasn’t enough to deny us the victory and three deserved points, as we maintain our unbeaten start to the Serie A season and continue to impress.
Milan player ratings vs Atalanta
Mike Maignan, 7.5 – Produced some key saves and continues to offer a reliable presence between the posts to give us a solid foundation that we can build on and go out and win games.
Davide Calabria, 7.5 – Solid defensive performance and broke the deadlock after just 35 seconds with an excellent run forward and showed good alertness to tap home after the initial effort.
Simon Kjaer, 7.5 – Returned to the starting XI and picked up from where he left off as a pillar in the Milan defence. Had his hands full with Duvan Zapata, but stood up to the challenge and was key in a strong defensive showing overall even though there were moments where he was beaten by his man.
Fikayo Tomori, 7.5 – Similarly to Kjaer, he was brilliant once again as he was alert to danger throughout and contained Atalanta’s attacking threat brilliantly.
Theo Hernandez, 7.5 – Carried out his defensive duties well and was decisive when breaking forward too as he provided the assist for Calabria and was instrumental in the counter-attack which led to Leao’s strike.
Franck Kessie, 7 – Dominated the midfield as after a shaky few weeks and indifferent form, he put in a performance that was something close to what we expect from our midfield lynchpin.
Sandro Tonali, 8 – Man of the Match for Milan. Pivotal in both phases of the game. From his crucial defensive block to deny Atalanta a goal in the first half to his superb pressing to win possession back and show brilliant composure to get himself a goal. It was an all-round, top-class display.
Alexis Saelemaekers, 7 – Put in yet another tireless shift for the team with his defensive work, did well to keep things ticking over but will be disappointed he didn’t get on the scoresheet with a close-range header that should have found the back of the net.
Brahim Diaz, 6.5 – Played his part in causing Atalanta problems defensively, albeit it wasn’t his most influential game for us. Can be pleased with his contribution though as he always looks to get on the ball and spark us into life.
Rafael Leao, 7.5 – Continues to show real signs of growth this season, not only in terms of his attacking play but his general commitment and sacrifice for the team. Produced another top finish to continue his impressive run in front of goal so far this season too.
Ante Rebic, 6.5 – Didn’t get any reward for what was a gritty display as his work ethic was second to none again. Bit wasteful in the final third at times though as his decision-making lets him down when he needs to be more clinical.
Substitutions:
Messias Junior, 6 – Will be disappointed with the penalty but overall it was a positive first impression as he came on and added a different dynamic to our play.
Ismael Bennacer, 6.5 – Came on and did his job perfectly as he added more steeliness and presence in midfield to help us see out the win and break play up where possible.
