How Milan could line up vs Roma: Theo, Brahim Diaz double boost

AC Milan travel to the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night to face Roma as we look to continue our impressive start to the Serie A season.

The Rossoneri have won nine out of 10 games thus far, accumulating 28 points to sit joint top of the standings along with Napoli.

As for our upcoming opponents, Jose Mourinho’s side are in fourth spot and nine points adrift of us as they look to close the gap this weekend.

Milan have been relentless domestically so far this season, but this will undoubtedly be a real test of our credentials and so Stefano Pioli will be delighted by the fact that he’s edging closer towards a full strength XI just in time.

Theo, Brahim Diaz to return to starting XI

Both Theo Hernandez and Brahim Diaz have been sidelined over the past couple of games after testing positive for COVID.

Fortunately, the club officially confirmed that they both tested negative last week, with Theo making his comeback off the bench in the win over Torino.

The expectation is the duo will start this weekend, and it’s hoped that they’ve got the minutes in their legs to play crucial roles as they have been highly influential once again for us this year.

It certainly adds more quality and creativity to our attacking play, something that has been lacking in recent outings, and so it will take the pressure off others and ensure we’re a more dynamic and well-rounded attacking unit if they both get the nod.

Elsewhere, there might not be many other changes despite our clash with Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday night, although Zlatan Ibrahimovic could replace Olivier Giroud up front and lead the line for us in this one.

The veteran pair have been rotated since both returning to full fitness, and so it’s hoped that Pioli makes the right call in terms of which out of the two will be able to make the bigger impact against the Giallorossi, with the French stalwart starting last time out.

Either way, Milan have a lot of quality in any possible starting line-up with key individuals returning, and it’s hoped that we can continue our excellent start to the campaign by overcoming a difficult opponent on Sunday night.
