Injuries have become an issue in recent months though as he’s now missed 16 games this year, and so it’s hoped that he can put those behind him and play an integral role in our final push for Champions League qualification, but his future is no longer uncertain.

As confirmed by the club in their official statement, Ibrahimovic has put pen to paper on a new contract renewal that ensures he will stay at Milan beyond this summer, with the expectation being that it’s for another year.

According to Sky Sport Italia, as noted by MilanNews, Ibrahimovic will earn up to €7m, with variables based on performance and appearances.

Given the lack of quality depth behind him in the squad, it’s hoped that the Rossoneri address that this summer and bring in back-up to add more firepower to the side, but Ibrahimovic’s experience, quality and all-round influence will undoubtedly help us continue to push on and achieve our objectives.

It will come as a boost for all concerned to have this matter wrapped up and for the focus to switch back to the pitch when we face Lazio on Monday night in what could prove to be a decisive encounter in the battle for a top-four finish.

That said, with Ibrahimovic’s future now secured, it’s also hoped that with the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu set to become free agents in a couple of months time, this is the first of a number of new deals that Milan will announce to keep the core of the squad together.
