CM: AC Milan closing in on agreement for Brahim Diaz loan deal

AC Milan are reportedly edging closer to securing Brahim Diaz on another loan deal from Real Madrid after his successful spell with us last season.

The 21-year-old scored seven goals and provided four assists in 39 appearances for us in the previous campaign, as he played a key role in helping us seal second place in the Serie A standings and subsequently a return to the Champions League.

While it was admittedly an inconsistent campaign as he had impactful runs of form while going quiet at times too, there was arguably enough on show during the course of the year to suggest that Diaz is capable of playing an important role for us moving forward.

According to Calciomercato, the two clubs are closing in on an agreement which would see the Spaniard re-join us on a two-year loan with an option to buy set at €20m, while Diaz himself is keen to come back.

However, it’s suggested that Real Madrid would prefer an obligation rather than an option, and so it remains to be seen what compromise is reached between the two clubs in order to get a deal done.

As Milan prepare for a return to the Champions League, Stefano Pioli will need quality and depth across the squad to help his side compete on multiple fronts.

The Italian tactician evidently trusted Diaz in big moments last season, particularly towards the end of the campaign as he played a vital role in our run to seal a top-four finish.

In turn, Pioli will likely be delighted if an agreement is reached, while Diaz will hope that a return to Milan will ensure that he gets more playing time and an opportunity to show his class and fulfil his potential moving forward.

The formula of the touted agreement would suit Milan too as it spreads the costs of his return, as Paolo Maldini and the hierarchy continue to make sensible financial and business decisions off the pitch too.
