AC Milan are reportedly on the verge of reaching an agreement with Monaco to secure the signing of midfielder Youssouf Fofana.
Speculation has been rife for weeks over the 25-year-old’s future, with the Rossoneri heavily linked with making a move to sign him to bolster our midfield options.

Milan boss Paulo Fonseca publicly confirmed our desire to prise him away from Monaco and sign him earlier this week, but negotiations have continued to drag on between the two clubs to try and reach an agreement.
According to Fabrizio Romano, there has seemingly been a crucial breakthrough in those talks, as he has now reported that Milan are close to securing the French international’s signing, having submitted an improved offer which in turn could now convince the Ligue 1 side to sell and seal the deal this week.
He adds that Fofana prioritised a move to join us this summer over other potential options, and so hopefully, with an agreement close, we’ll see the formalities of a transfer completed in the coming days and Milan will add another important piece to the squad in what has turned out to be an intriguing and productive transfer window.
Should the Frenchman arrive as now touted, he’ll join Alvaro Morata, Strahinja Pavlovic and Emerson Royal as new additions for Fonseca ahead of his first season in charge of the Rossoneri, with the Portuguese tactician being backed in the transfer market to bring in crucial reinforcements.
It’s hoped that these individuals have been meticulously selected as being ideal for his system and style of play, thus not only putting them in a position to showcase their quality, but to make us stronger as a collective and significantly more competitive as we begin a new tenure.
Time will tell if Fofana’s possible arrival will have a knock-on effect in terms of an exit, as Milan do have several options in midfield currently, with Fonseca having had pre-season to assess his options and identify who perhaps doesn’t fit with his ideas and principles as effectively as others.
However, the focus for now will be to get this deal done, and welcome another important new signing to the squad ahead of our Serie A season opener against Torino this weekend.
