AC Milan are reportedly in advanced talks with Napoli over the transfer of midfielder Yunus Musah, who is said to have agreed on terms with our Serie A rivals already.
The 22-year-old was signed from Valencia in 2023, and he has since gone on to make 80 appearances for the club. While he hasn’t always convinced or perhaps been as consistent as desired, he was evidently valued highly by our previous coaches to feature so often, and his versatility has proven to be crucial too.

While it had been hoped that every player in the current squad would get a fresh start under Massimiliano Allegri and be given a chance to prove themselves in pre-season ahead of his first campaign back at the helm, speculation continues to link countless individuals with a departure in the coming weeks.
As per Gianluca Di Marzio, talks are now at an advanced stage over a deal potentially worth around €25m, and so it looks as though Milan will lose another option in midfield with Tijjani Reijnders’ move to Manchester City set to be announced imminently.
Further, Fabrizio Romano has since reported that an agreement is in place on personal terms between Napoli and Musah, and a deal is close between the two clubs.
Changes were expected this summer given how poor our season was last year, but the scope of this rebuild under Allegri and sporting director Igli Tare is arguably starting to raise concern over just how many changes we’re going to see in one transfer window.
Milan absolutely need to build a group that is suited to the Italian tactician’s ideas and style of play to allow him to stamp his identity on it, but we’ve seen in previous years that too many changes in one go can prove to be destabilising and require time for things to settle before success comes.
Nevertheless, if the club feel confident that we can offload so many players and acquire replacements that add more quality and make us more competitive from next season onwards, it’s hoped that we start to see more significant incomings to go with those that are expected to depart in the coming weeks.
While many will likely welcome Musah’s departure, with so much of his career ahead of him and the potential to thrive under Allegri, it’s a shame to see him edging closer to leaving us, and the fact that Napoli and Antonio Conte are keen to land his signature should tell us a lot too in terms of how highly he’s rated.
That said, it’s another recent signing under the RedBird regime that hasn’t worked out for us, thus making the appointment of Igli Tare as sporting director last month all the more important in constructing our squad moving forward.
