Meeting held as doubts emerge over potential Milan exit with talks at risk of collapsing

Negotiations between AC Milan and Napoli over the transfer of midfielder Yunus Musah are reportedly now at risk of breaking down.

The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to our Serie A rivals this summer, as Massimiliano Allegri continues to rebuild the squad and mould it into his own through significant outgoings and incomings ahead of next season.

It seems as though Musah doesn’t form part of those plans amid exit talk over the past week or so, but according to Antonio Vitiello, a meeting was held on Wednesday to try and secure a breakthrough in talks over his move to Napoli given that they had previously stalled, but it doesn’t sound as though it went the way it was hoped.

It’s added that the two clubs are not moving towards a compromise, and subsequently a deal to push the move through, and so talks are now at risk of collapsing.

While the USA international was a key option for us last season having made 40 appearances across all competitions, he struggled to entirely convince, and Allegri has seemingly seen enough to be convinced that an exit is the best outcome for all concerned, particularly with a significant fee being touted.

That in turn would have allowed the Milan boss to continue to fund bringing in his own preferred options, but this could be a stumbling block that proves to be costly in his attempt to reshuffle his midfield options.

Time will tell if talks can begin to move in a more positive direction again or not if a fresh attempt is made between the two sides, or if other interested parties come forward to try and take advantage and swoop in, but for now, it certainly sounds as though there is a real risk of Musah remaining with the Rossoneri, and if that proves to be the case, he’ll have a big job on his hands to try and convince Allegri during our pre-season schedule next month.

It had seemed inevitable that we were set for quite a chaotic transfer window given the number of players linked with moving on, but with deals seemingly proving to be harder to complete than anticipated, it could end up limiting the extent of this much-needed rebuild this summer.
