Exit being finalised as Milan could bank significant transfer fee

AC Milan and Napoli are reportedly finalising details of Yunus Musah’s transfer in a deal said to be worth around €25m.

The 22-year-old was a key figure for the Rossoneri last season having made 40 appearances across all competitions, while contributing three assists and showing useful versatility to cover different roles.

However, it seemingly wasn’t enough to convince Massimiliano Allegri to give the USA international a chance to prove himself in pre-season as to why he should be part of his plans at Milan moving forward, as Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the club are finalising details of an exit for Musah with Napoli in a deal worth around €25m.

While it’s a sizeable transfer fee that is hopefully reinvested back into the squad to strengthen the group and fill voids, it is still another exit as Milan appear to be trimming the squad and preparing to make significant changes to mould this team into Allegri’s identity and preferred style of play.

Albeit he didn’t entirely convince and wasn’t particularly highly-rated by a lot of Milan fans last year, Musah ultimately played a pivotal role for both Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceicao given his presence in the side on a consistent basis, and Antonio Conte, fresh off winning the Scudetto last season, has evidently seen plenty he likes in the combative midfielder to feel that he could improve Napoli’s title-winning squad.

In turn, time will tell if we ultimately failed in getting the best out of Musah, as with so much of his career still ahead of him, he has plenty of time to fulfil his potential and develop his game to become a key presence for Napoli in their bid to enjoy sustained success.

From Milan’s perspective, having already sold Tijjani Reijnders, we need to make multiple smart signings now to rebuild our midfield, and it’s hoped that sporting director Igli Tare is able to deliver what Allegri feels he needs in order to make us more competitive next season.

With these incoming transfer fees mounting up, we certainly shouldn’t be short of spending power this summer, and it will very much be needed as we look to not only replace key individuals, but raise the overall level of the squad moving forward.
