AC Milan transfer target Youssouf Fofana has reportedly informed Monaco of his desire to join the Rossoneri this summer.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed an impressive stint with the Ligue 1 side having established himself as a key figure in their midfield, while also earning 21 caps for France.

However, with just a year remaining on his current contract, speculation has been rife over his future, with Milan heavily linked with a swoop to prise him away and add him to Paulo Fonseca’s squad.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the French international has now told Monaco that he wants to join us with personal terms already agreed, but there is still a major hurdle to overcome if the transfer is to go through.
He adds that Milan will not pay the €30m valuation that Monaco have put on Fofana, but there is confidence that they will be able to reach a compromise and agree on a lesser fee to allow the move to go through.
Time will tell if that happens or if Milan are ultimately forced to look elsewhere if they can’t reach a deal with Monaco, but it seems as though Fofana is very much the priority transfer target this summer to strengthen our midfield as our pursuit continues to gather pace.
It’s undoubtedly a much-needed signing to improve that area of the squad, as we continue to lack physicality, athleticism and defensive quality in front of our defence to make us a more formidable presence capable of imposing ourselves on games more consistently and being harder to break down.
Fofana will help with that given his attributes and style of play, and so if he has been identified as the ideal fit for Fonseca’s plans that he will look to implement this summer, it’s hoped that a deal can get done to add an important reinforcement to his group.
Given we’re in need of improving the squad elsewhere still as we’ve been inactive to this point, it would certainly be ideal if we can get a deal done relatively soon too in order to allow us to press ahead with other signings, and so we’ll hope to see developments in the coming days.
