AC Milan have reportedly set their sights on one of Dusan Vlahovic or Gianluca Scamacca as we look to bolster our attacking options with a long-term plan in mind.
The Rossoneri currently have Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the way up front, and although the Swede has scored 17 goals in 25 games so far this season to show that he can still produce at the top level, he does turn 40 later this year.

In turn, identifying and signing a long-term successor now while he can still guide them on their arrival seems like the sensible strategy from a Milan perspective, and it appears as though they have two targets in mind.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Vlahovic and Scamacca are both being assessed ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, and so time will tell if one of them, or perhaps neither, end up joining Milan this summer.
It’s added that Vlahovic could cost up to €40m, while Scamacca could command a price-tag in the region of €25m-€30m, and so while there are many similarities in their characteristics, age and what they can bring to the squad, there is a slight difference in how much they might cost.
Both are having impressive seasons this year, with Vlahovic, 21, scoring 15 goals and providing two assists in 32 appearances, while Scamacca, 22, has nine goals and two assists in 24 outings across all competitions.
The pair offer a physical presence, quality in front of goal and an ability to bring play together to benefit others, and it’s added in the report above, that they would both arguably be receptive to the notion of initially supporting Ibrahimovic next season.
It’s an area that certainly must be addressed over the summer, as the likes of Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao have struggled to impress when deputising for Ibrahimovic as the frontman, while Mario Mandzukic is surely running out of time to prove he warrants a longer-term deal having contributed little since his arrival.
In turn, either Vlahovic or Scamacca would address a need for Milan, particularly if we can successfully hold on to a top four spot in Serie A this season, and thus qualify for the Champions League. That will not just have a positive impact on our budget given the financial boost that comes with it, but it also requires additional quality and depth in the squad to cope and adding more firepower is undoubtedly on the agenda.
