Milan ace could now seal exit as interested club push for deal

AC Milan could reportedly now cash in on Theo Hernandez as talks continue between him and Al Hilal over a move.

The 27-year-old has been a fundamental figure for the Rossoneri since joining us from Real Madrid in 2019, but major doubts have emerged over his future with us given he has just 12 months remaining on his current contract.

Speculation over a potential exit has been rife this month, and while talks over a move to Atletico Madrid collapsed, the door has seemingly been re-opened to a possible switch to Al Hilal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Saudi club are pushing to get a deal done for the French international, as while an agreement has already been reached between the two clubs, it’s now down to convincing the player that the move would be the best option for him moving forward.

It had previously been widely reported that Hernandez wasn’t open to the idea of moving to the Gulf state at this stage of his career with a World Cup coming up next summer too, but with his options running out and neither him nor Milan seemingly preferring to continue together next season, it looks as though he might move on.

As per Gianluca Di Marzio, Hernandez is said to now be indicating an openness to moving to Al Hilal, and so a deal could be done in the coming days with Milan set to cash in on the defender and avoid the risk of losing him for nothing next year.

Although it would be disappointing to see him leave, based on his form last season and how the team performed as a whole, it feels like the right time for the two parties to split and start afresh, with Massimiliano Allegri set to get a financial boost in his pursuit of his own transfer targets to mould the squad into his own.

While he may well have preferred to be able to lean on Hernandez next season as part of his rebuild of the rest of the group, it looks as though we could yet be in the market for a new left-back this summer with potentially another significant exit leaving a glaring void behind after Tijjani Reijnders’ departure earlier this month.
