Deal agreed as Milan step up bid to strengthen key area for Allegri

AC Milan have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Torino over the transfer of midfielder Samuele Ricci.

The 23-year-old established himself as a key figure for Torino after joining them from Empoli in 2022, as he’s gone on to make 113 appearances for the club, scoring four goals and providing seven assists to go with his overall influence in their midfield.

His club form has subsequently earned him 10 caps for Italy too, and so it does appear as though he could be set for a bright future for both club and country if he continues to improve and develop his game.

The next chapter of his career could now play out at Milan it seems, as Fabrizio Romano reports that the Rossoneri have reached a verbal agreement with Torino to sign Ricci in a deal worth €23m plus €2m in add-ons.

Further, the expectation is that he will undergo his medical and finalise details of the move early next week, as Ricci is set to join Luka Modric in bolstering our midfield this summer.

Having lost Tijjani Reijnders earlier this month after he sealed a move to Manchester City, there was a glaring void that needed to be filled in our midfield ahead of next season, and it appears as though it has certainly been viewed as a priority area to be addressed this summer by Massimiliano Allegri.

While further exits are still possible to make space in the squad for our new recruits and to balance our books, Allegri is seemingly stamping his mark on the group with our midfield additions, as they’ll hope to implement his style of play and identity successfully on a more consistent basis to lay the foundations for future success.

Further, should Milan go on to officially confirm moves for Modric and Ricci, that will be with short-term and long-term strategies in mind, and so provided that it pays dividends on the pitch, it undoubtedly comes across as sensible planning from the club in building a squad suited to our new coach’s ideas.

The moves still need to be announced and must prove to be successful acquisitions, but the impact and influence of having a sporting director in place with Igli Tare appears to be making a significant difference already.
