Milan close in on key summer signing as target arrives for medical

AC Milan are edging ever closer to completing the signing of midfielder Samuele Ricci after he arrived in the city ahead of his medical on Thursday.

The 23-year-old established himself as a key figure in the Torino midfield during his time at the club, and that in turn earned him 10 caps for Italy.

With his combativeness, energy and technical ability, he could prove to be an excellent addition to the Milan squad as we rebuild our midfield under Massimiliano Allegri this summer, and it appears as though we could be around just 24 hours away from an official announcement on his move.

As per Antonio Vitiello, Ricci arrived in Milan on Wednesday night, and will undergo his medical and finalise his agreement to join the Rossoneri on Thursday.

Further, Fabrizio Romano reports that the deal will be worth €25m in total, and so it’s a significant investment from Milan with the need to fill the void left behind after Tijjani Reijnders’ move to Manchester City last month.

Our work on that area of the squad is said to be far from over as speculation continues to link us with other targets, and so Ricci may well be the first piece in helping Allegri get his identity and style of play across to the players and successfully implemented.

Those key factors have been sorely missing at Milan, particularly last season, but over an extended period during our decline after winning the Scudetto in the 2021/22 campaign, and so it’s hoped that the club continue to make sensible signings to raise the level of the squad both in the short-term and long-term future.

Ricci ticks a lot of important boxes in that sense, and provided that all goes well on Thursday, he will be the first signing during a critical period for Milan as we look to rebuild and become a force in Italy, to begin with, once again.
