AC Milan are reportedly set to hold further talks over Lille midfielder Renato Sanches ahead of a possible summer transfer move.
As things stand with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season, the Rossoneri are expected to see Franck Kessie move on, unless he has a change of heart and opts to pen a new deal in the coming months.

Should he depart though, which at present seems like the more likely outcome, that would leave us with Sandro Tonali, Ismael Bennacer and Tiemoue Bakayoko as our main options in the defensive midfield positions. To kick on and compete at the top level and across multiple fronts next season and beyond, there will be a need for more competition and quality.
As reported by MilanNews, Sanches has been identified as a main transfer target by Milan to add to the midfield ahead of next season.
Further, while it’s noted that Milan made an attempt to sign him from Lille last month, they will now hold further talks in the coming days to try and move closer to an agreement over a summer move, with Sanches’ current contract running until June 2023.
While he has had his struggles in his career after underwhelming stints at Bayern Munich and Swansea City, his form for Benfica, Lille and Portugal has shown that he can perform at a high level, and given he’s still only 24 years of age, he has a lot of improvement and development still to come.
That in turn makes him a great potential addition, and so it’s hoped that Milan can make progress in the upcoming week and ensure that we’re ahead of any competition for Sanches in the summer window.
Meanwhile, MilanNews also add in the report above that there is confidence over contract talks with Rafael Leao, and the expectation is that he will indeed reach an agreement on a new deal that will see him commit his future to Milan until 2026.
Having recently made his 100th appearance for the club and reached the landmark of 10 goals across all competitions this season, Leao has continued to grow into a prominent role for us, and that ongoing improvement could now be rewarded with new terms.
