Interest builds in Milan ace as exit agreed upon as best solution

AC Milan have reportedly received approaches from clubs in Saudi Arabia as Rafael Leao is expected to leave the club this summer.

The 27-year-old struggled with injuries and to find his best form last season, in an overall underwhelming and bitterly disappointing campaign for the Rossoneri which led to significant changes this summer.

Having also since publicly conceded that he is ready to move on and begin a new challenge elsewhere ahead of next season, it certainly seems as though Leao is heading for the exit door, regardless of whether or not the arrival of Ruben Amorim could result in a fresh start for him.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Leao is set to leave Milan this summer with movement likely after his World Cup campaign comes to an end with Portugal.

It’s added that both the club and the Portuguese winger are in agreement that a departure would be best for all concerned and although he is waiting to see what options present themselves in Europe, it’s noted that Saudi clubs have started making approaches already.

In turn, it remains to be seen if any suitable offers arrive from clubs in Europe in the coming weeks, if not, a big-money switch could be on the cards which would no doubt suit Milan as we look to cash in as much as possible on one of our most prized assets.

Milan have already spent big money on bolstering our attack with the signing of Goncalo Ramos, and he will now lead the line and hopefully give us a prolific presence up top.

While Leao’s transfer fee could help to balance our books after that signing, it will also hopefully enable us to continue to spend to allow Amorim to mould the squad into his own and bring in better suited options for his system and style of play.

It will be disappointing to see Leao leave Milan, should an exit materialise as hoped for, as he’s been a talisman for us for quite some time now, but it feels as though it’s the right time for both parties to start afresh, and so hopefully a deal can be reached with an interested party later this month.
