Personal terms agreed as Milan close in on key addition

AC Milan have reportedly agreed on personal terms with Fiorentina goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano as he looks set to join us this summer.

The 35-year-old stalwart has had spells with Catania, Empoli, and Fiorentina among many others over the course of his lengthy career, and after initially joining La Viola in 2019, he has made 156 appearances for the club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Milan have now agreed personal terms with the Italian shot-stopper, and he is tipped to put pen to paper on a two-year deal to become our new back-up goalkeeper.

It’s added that the expectation is that Marco Sportiello will join Atalanta, and so Terracciano will effectively come in to replace him and provide us with depth in the goalkeeper department.

Given the summer transfer window started with the real possibility that the Rossoneri would be in the market for a new No.1 amid intense speculation over Mike Maignan’s future, it’s a relief that our focus has ultimately been switched to adding fresh cover for the Frenchman.

With just one year remaining on his current contract though, there is still an issue to address in terms of whether or not we can agree on a renewal or if we ultimately run the risk of losing him for nothing in 12 months time, but it was important to keep some consistency and familiarity intact for Massimiliano Allegri’s first season in charge.

Should Terracciano seal his move to join us as touted, it’s strangely hoped that we don’t see too much of him next season as that would indicate that Maignan has enjoyed an injury-free campaign and has displayed good form.

Further, with Milan’s absence from European football, there will be less games and less need to rotate, and so the Frenchman could seemingly have a new face working with him in training at Milanello, and it’s hoped that Terracciano can keep him on his toes and deputise effectively when needed, should his transfer go through as now expected.
