AC Milan reportedly face a crucial decision over the future of Pierre Kalulu as Juventus are said to have made an offer to sign the Frenchman.
The 24-year-old joined us from Lyon in 2020, and he has since gone on to make 112 appearances for the club, establishing himself as a key figure in our Scudetto-winning side in the 2021/22 campaign.

However, injuries severely limited him last season as he made just 11 appearances, and coupled with the arrival of Paulo Fonseca as our new coach, doubts are seemingly emerging over Kalulu’s future at Milan.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus have proposed an initial loan move with an option to buy clause in a deal potentially worth €17m in total. Further, he has claimed that Kalulu has agreed on personal terms with the Bianconeri.
However, Milan are yet to approve of the deal as we are said to be keen on a permanent sale rather than a loan, and so it’s suggested that the counter-offer from our Serie A rivals could be to include an obligation to buy instead.
Time will tell if the two clubs are able to reach a compromise and seal a transfer, but it would be somewhat of a surprise move given the potential of Kalulu becoming an important option for us in defence again in the upcoming campaign.
Milan signed Strahinja Pavlovic this summer to bolster our centre-half options, with Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw and Matteo Gabbia providing Fonseca with competition and depth, while Davide Calabria is expected to be joined by Emerson Royal imminently to battle it out for the right-back spot.
In turn, we do appear to be well covered in that department, and so an exit for Kalulu wouldn’t hurt us as much as expected or in previous years where we’ve relied on his quality at the back.
However, Milan are seemingly prepared to stay firm on their demands to green light an exit, and so it remains to be seen if Kalulu departs in the coming days or weeks. Further, whether or not that means we’ll continue to be active in that area of the squad to strengthen Fonseca’s group and allow him to mould it into his own squad with more suitable options for his ideas and style of play that he’s been busy implementing this summer, will also become clearer.
