Triple Milan exit possible as trio of loanees won’t feature in Allegri rebuild

AC Milan could reportedly offload a trio of loanees this summer with Marco Pellegrino, Ismael Bennacer and Tommaso Pobega all paired with permanent exits.

It’s set to be a busy transfer window for the Rossoneri, as newly-appointed sporting director Igli Tare and coach Massimiliano Allegri go about rebuilding the squad to fit his ideas and style of play moving forward.

While speculation is rife over a number of players who spent last season with us, rumours continue to link those who were out on loan with a more permanent departure ahead of next season too.

As per MilanNews, Boca Juniors are reportedly keen to sign Pellegrino following his positive stint at Huracan, and it’s suggested that the deal could be worth around €3.5m.

The 22-year-old made just one appearance for us prior to moving out on loan, and although it had been hoped that he would have a bright future in a Milan shirt, that doesn’t look likely to be the case any longer.

Meanwhile, MilanNews also report that the club are waiting on Marseille for an answer over whether or not they intend on exercising their option to buy on Bennacer, who joined them on loan in January. An exit for the midfielder would fetch us €14m, as per the report, while it’s noted that he doesn’t fit into Allegri’s plans for his midfield next season.

Out of three players mentioned, the Algerian international’s exit would be the most disappointing given how influential he has been for us previously, but ultimately, it would seemingly be best for all concerned to try and reach an agreement for a permanent solution, but time will tell if Marseille have been convinced to trigger their option.

As for Pobega, the same outlet report that Bologna want to keep the Italian midfielder, but they’re not so keen on paying the pre-agreed €12m fee in their option to buy clause.

It remains to be seen if Milan are willing to negotiate on the transfer fee in a bid to move Pobega on to raise further funds for our own spending and make space in the squad for new arrivals, and although it’s disappointing that the agreement won’t be honoured in the event that our Serie A rivals want to sign him outright, it may well still make sense for us to find a compromise.

The Rossoneri do need to be careful this summer that we don’t change too much and create chaos in the summer transfer window, as we need some sense of stability moving forward to be successful. That said, if players ultimately don’t fit into Allegri’s plans, we have to move them on and give ourselves the flexibility to bring in top replacements, and hopefully we’ll do that in these scenarios.
