AC Milan are reportedly set to complete the signing of Pietro Pellegri from Monaco on a loan move with an option to buy.
The Rossoneri added Olivier Giroud to our ranks up front earlier this summer, which in turn brings competition and depth in that department alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

However, with our return to the Champions League in mind coupled with the objective of challenging for the Serie A title this season, more was perhaps still needed in terms of cover and options for Stefano Pioli.
As per MilanNews, Pellegri is expected to finalise a move to Milan this week, with the 20-year-old set to join us on an initial loan deal with an option to buy included in the agreement.
It’s added that Milan will pay €500,000 for the season-long loan, while it will take around €6m to make the move permanent as it could become an obligation to buy if certain conditions are met.
Pellegri has scored two goals and provided one assist in 23 appearances for Monaco, while he bagged three goals in 10 outings for Genoa prior to that which in turn attracted initial attention in his potential.
Given his lack of playing time and injury troubles, this is perhaps a questionable move for many Milan fans, as it’s unclear what he will bring to the side as he has yet to deliver on that aforementioned potential.
Nevertheless, this is now a huge opportunity for him to learn from Ibrahimovic and Giroud, work under less pressure and to show his quality when called upon by Pioli.
Time will tell whether or not he does enough to earn a permanent move, but Milan clearly feel as though he has the characteristics that they’re looking for as we continue to try and complete the squad, with an announcement now seemingly imminent.
