AC Milan have reportedly opened talks for RB Salzburg defender Strahinja Pavlovic, and continue to pursue both Youssouf Fofana and Emerson Royal.
The Rossoneri officially unveiled Paulo Fonseca as our new coach this week, and after a slow start to the summer transfer window, it appears as though the club hierarchy is now looking to move at pace to bring in reinforcements.

Naturally, it’s hoped that there is good synergy between the management team and Milan boss in the transfer market, as we’re looking to bring in players that will suit his ideas, style of play and structure, which in turn will hopefully allow him to make a positive start in the upcoming campaign.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Milan have opened talks for Pavlovic to strengthen our defensive options, while both Fofana and Emerson want to join us, and negotiations are ongoing for that pair too.
Pavlovic, 23, has a wealth of experience already having had spells at Partizan Belgrade, Monaco, FC Basel and Salzburg, while he has been capped 38 times for Serbia.
While Milan do have options at centre-half with the likes of Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw and Pierre Kalulu at Fonseca’s disposal, there is an obvious need for a reinforcement in that area still, particularly after the departure of Simon Kjaer this summer. Additionally, given our poor defensive record last season, we certainly need to improve in that area this year.
Further, Emerson will potentially add much-need competition and depth at right-back as he’ll hopefully be an improvement on Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi, with Romano adding that Milan are expected to return with a new offer for Tottenham having had a bid under €15m rejected.
Similarly, Fofana will be a crucial addition to our midfield given the need to add a physical and commanding presence in that area of the pitch, and so all these touted moves make sense and address very clear needs for Milan and Fonseca heading into the new campaign.
Time will tell though if agreements can be reached between the respective clubs to get deals over the line, but with the trio all said to be keen on a move to join us, it’s hoped that we’ll see them, or alternative targets, join up with the squad sooner rather than later to give them ample time to settle in and adapt to Fonseca’s demands.
