Talks underway over exit for Milan ace which could spark reshuffle

AC Milan are reportedly in talks over an exit for Noah Okafor this month, with RB Leipzig looking to secure his signature.

The 24-year-old joined the Rossoneri in July 2023, and he has since gone on to score seven goals and provide five assists in 52 appearances for the club.

While he has made important contributions at times and has further potential to fulfil, it appears as though that process could now take place elsewhere, as Matteo Moretto reports that Leipzig are in talks to sign Okafor this month.

It’s added that there is positivity between the camps that a deal can be done, and so Okafor’s time with Milan could seemingly be coming to an end as we possibly look to make space, both financial and in the squad, for a signing of our own in this January transfer window.

It comes after reports over the weekend that Milan could explore the possibility of a deal to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, as per Sky Sport, and although that move remains complicated due to the financial aspects involved, moving Okafor on could be interpreted as a key move to help that materialise.

Should Okafor leave, we would still have Tammy Abraham, Samuel Chukwueze, Luka Jovic, Rafael Leao and Alvaro Morata at Sergio Conceicao’s disposal in the final third, along with the likes of Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek who operate in advanced roles too.

With that in mind, it could be argued that we don’t necessarily need to bring in another option, but it could be an important development to allow Conceicao to stamp his mark on the squad and bring in players that suit his ideas and principles more effectively.

It could prove to be a crucial transfer window for Milan, as we look to move on from the underwhelming and inconsistent start to the season under Paulo Fonseca, and hopefully start competing across multiple fronts at the top level.

It’s seemingly been decided by the hierarchy that Okafor won’t help us achieve that objective, and so it remains to be seen if an exit for the Swiss international becomes official in the coming days or weeks.
