AC Milan are reportedly keeping a close eye on Nicolo Zaniolo’s future at Roma as he looks set to leave the Giallorossi.
The 23-year-old joined the capital club in 2018 and has since gone on to make 128 appearances for them in all competitions, while contributing 24 goals and 18 assists.

Having suffered two serious knee injuries during that time, he hasn’t perhaps had as big an impact as expected of him, but nonetheless he certainly remains a talented individual who has also earned 11 caps for Italy, scoring twice.
As reported by MilanNews, it appears as though he is set to leave Roma having been put on the transfer market, while Zaniolo is said to have refused to be involved this weekend for their encounter with Spezia which suggests a split is likely.
It’s added that Milan are keeping tabs on his situation having been interested in him previously, but with Roma’s €35m price-tag in mind coupled with the claim that negotiations between the two clubs haven’t yet started, it seems as though this one is still a long way off becoming a concrete option for us to strengthen our squad.
With his current contract set to expire in 2024, that is a hefty asking price that is being touted, and so it remains to be seen firstly if the competition for Zaniolo beats Milan to his signature, and if a move to join the Rossoneri does become a genuine option, if the relevant agreements can be reached for it to materialise.
On the face of it, that €35m price-tag would arguably be enough to rule Milan out of making such a significant investment given our general prudence on the market. That said, if the club’s management feel like it’s a signing that would provide long-term solutions and would help us build on last year’s success, then perhaps talks could take place over a deal.
For now though, Milan have to focus on getting back to winning ways and putting a good run of form together as regardless of which reinforcements arrive this month, if any, our recent form hasn’t been good enough and it has built pressure on both Stefano Pioli and the players to get us back on track as soon as possible.
