Influential Milan ace not for sale amid speculation of interest

AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan is not available for sale this summer, after reports suggesting Chelsea were ready to make their move for him.

Albeit severely limited by an ongoing injury last season, the 27-year-old once again showed his class and importance to us with 10 clean sheets in 29 appearances, while conceding 27 goals.

Prior to that, he was instrumental in our Serie A title-winning campaign, as he has established himself as a commanding and reliable presence between the posts who will continue to be fundamental to our hopes of future success.

With that form though comes the obvious room for speculation, with L’Equipe reporting that Chelsea are keen on signing the French international this summer.

However, as per Antonio Vitiello, Milan have no interest in parting company with Maignan, and he is not on the market. In turn, it’s hoped that quickly shuts down any talk of a possible move to England now and he can look ahead and prepare for a big year with us as we look to improve on last season.

Maignan’s current contract with us runs until June 2026 and so we’re in a good place in terms of having his future secured, and time will tell if there are discussions in the coming weeks and months over potentially extending that stay further.

His form and influence on the pitch have certainly made that a deserved outcome if it happens, and it would strengthen our position further in terms of being able to fend off any interested parties.

It remains to be seen how we bolster Stefano Pioli’s squad this summer as reinforcements are undoubtedly needed, but what’s equally as important is that we keep hold of our key players who are ultimately pillars of the current Milan XI, and continue to build around them.

Maignan certainly falls into that bracket, and so hopefully it’s the last we’ll hear of a possible exit for him this summer.
