AC Milan are reportedly edging closer to securing a deal to sign Marcus Thuram, who will be available as a free agent at the end of this month.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a productive campaign last season, scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists in 32 appearances for Borussia Monchengladbach, while he has earned 10 caps for France thus far.

With his deal with the German side set to expire on June 30 though, he’s now expected to move on this summer, and according to Antonio Vitiello, he is moving closer to joining the Rossoneri.
It’s added that there is ‘optimism for a favourable conclusion’, and so now time will tell if Milan are able to wrap the swoop up and announce it before competition from elsewhere perhaps complicates the process.
Those thoughts have been echoed by Fabrizio Romano, who has reported that Milan are pushing to get the agreement sorted as soon as possible with Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig keen on Thuram, but it’s hoped that we’re now well positioned to get it over the line and bring in an important attacking reinforcement.
With Thuram’s ability to play up front as well as on the flanks, coupled with his attributes and strengths that are currently lacking in the current squad, he would be a good addition to what has largely been a weak attacking line-up from Milan beyond Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud.
Our depth simply wasn’t good enough in the final third last season, and so that is certainly an area of the squad that Stefano Pioli will want to see changes this summer to raise the level and make us a more dynamic and consistent attacking threat.
It’s hoped that Thuram is just the first of many new signings this summer as we look to strengthen, but amid ongoing speculation over Sandro Tonali’s future, it remains to be seen just how smart and successful this window proves to be with new management putting their plans in place.
