Milan paired with interest in top talent to strengthen midfield

AC Milan are reportedly interested in Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra as we consider potential reinforcements for that area of the squad.

The 22-year-old has come through the youth ranks at the La Liga side and has since gone on to make 89 appearances for the first-team, contributing eight goals and four assists to go with his overall influence in midfield.

Further, he’s earned 18 caps for Spain U21s, and is currently playing a key role for them at the European Championship this summer.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan have expressed an interest in the talented Spanish youngster, and so it remains to be seen if it develops into something more serious as we look to bolster our midfield options ahead of next season.

Tijjani Reijnders has completed his move to Manchester City to leave a major void in that department, while Yunus Musah is being heavily linked with a departure to join Napoli this summer too.

In turn, there appears to be significant rebuilding work for sporting director Igli Tare and coach Massimilano Allegri to do, and Guerra has seemingly caught their attention as a potential solution to add quality to the group and help us become more competitive moving forward.

Milan have also been paired with a swoop for Luka Modric on a free transfer, and so combining his experience, leadership and quality with a younger option who can develop and learn under him, would certainly seem like a very sensible strategy from the Rossoneri.

Time will tell if it’s Guerra who emerges as our priority transfer target for that role or if we will still consider alternative options, but as per the report above, he could be a name to watch in the coming weeks and months as Milan face a critical summer that will determine which direction we go in from next season onwards.
