Offer made as Milan step up transfer pursuit of top target

AC Milan have reportedly submitted a formal offer for Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra in a step up in our pursuit of the Spaniard this summer.

The 22-year-old enjoyed an impressive season last year for the La Liga outfit, making 33 appearances and contributing three goals and three assists to go with his defensive work in midfield.

Evidently, that form and impact has caught the attention of the Rossoneri, as Sky Sport Italy report that Milan have now made an opening offer for the Spain U21s international, worth €16m plus €4m in bonuses.

It remains to be seen if that’s enough to convince Valencia to part company with their top young talent, or if further negotiations are needed between the two clubs in order to reach an agreement that suits all parties, but this is certainly setting the table for further talks in a bid to reach a deal.

Having already lost Tijjani Reijnders this summer, Milan’s midfield has been weakened, and significantly so given how the influential the Dutchman was for us in a campaign where we really struggled last year.

In turn, it’s crucial that we fill that void, but with players who suit Allegri’s identity and way of playing, and it seems as though Guerra has emerged as a priority transfer target given he ticks the right boxes.

There’s certainly a lot to like about him, and it could be argued that Milan are unlikely to be the only team monitoring his situation this summer, and so we can expect to face competition to land his signature with teams around Europe surely monitoring his progression.

Nevertheless, our priority focus will be on agreeing terms with Valencia, and hopefully in turn bolstering our midfield with a top player with a big future ahead of him.
