AC Milan have reportedly made contact over a potential deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka this summer.
The 32-year-old has enjoyed a successful stint with the Bundesliga side after joining them from Arsenal in 2023, as he’s made 99 appearances for the club and contributed six goals and nine assists to go with his overall influence in midfield.

Xhaka was a fundamental part of their success under former boss Xabi Alonso, while the Swiss ace has a wealth of experience at international level too having earned 137 caps for his country.
With the Rossoneri overseeing an important rebuild this summer, Massimiliano Allegri could do with adding experience, leadership and quality to his squad to not only mould the group into his own as he looks to implement his ideas and style of play, but to also add stability given the number of potential changes we could see, both incomings and outgoings.
According to Antonio Vitiello, Milan have made contact to open talks over a possible move for Xhaka, while it’s added that he is open to the idea of joining us.
While that all sounds positive, crucially it remains to be seen if an agreement can be reached between the two clubs before personal terms become a talking point, as Leverkusen will surely want to keep hold of their influential midfielder as they open a new cycle of their own from next season onwards.
Time will tell if we’re serious about the Swiss international or not and whether a deal can be done, but it certainly seems as though our midfield could be drastically different next season with Tijjani Reijnders having already moved on, while Yunus Musah could follow him out of the exit door.
Milan have been heavily linked with signing Luka Modric on a free transfer to help fill the voids left behind and raise our level, and so Xhaka could be a signing in a similar mould who adds quality and reliability immediately, helping the Rossoneri become competitive without delay as we look to bounce back from a largely dreadful campaign last time round.
