Contact made as Milan step up pursuit of reinforcement for attack

AC Milan have reportedly opened talks with Juventus over the possible signing of striker Dusan Vlahovic this summer.

The 25-year-old faces an uncertain future it seems given he has just 12 months remaining on his current contract with the Bianconeri, and so speculation is building over a potential exit.

Having enjoyed prolific spells with Fiorentina and Juventus, scoring 49 goals in 108 games for the former while adding 56 goals and 14 assists in 142 outings for the latter, he has proven himself at the top level and his ability to score consistently in Serie A.

As reported by Calciomercato, Milan have now made a formal approach to begin negotiations and understand what it might take to prise the Serbian international away from Turin, while it’s added that he remains a favoured option by Massimiliano Allegri who has worked with him previously.

Time will tell if Milan are able to convince Vlahovic to lead our attack from next season onwards or if he either pens a renewal and commits to Juventus or looks at alternative options, but it seems he is certainly a top candidate to come in and add more firepower to our squad.

The Rossoneri will see Tammy Abraham return to Roma when his loan spell ends this month, while that leaves us with Santiago Gimenez and Luka Jovic as our options to lead the line.

While we will surely look to upgrade on Jovic in that depth role, Gimenez will likely be assessed in pre-season by Allegri and his coaches to determine if he fits with what he will try to implement in terms of system and style of play, and it remains to be seen if he’ll be part of our rebuild or be another failed signing from the RedBird regime.

Nevertheless, given all of our focus next season will be on domestic matters, Vlahovic is a proven goalscorer in the Italian top-flight, and if a deal can be done, it’s hoped that he can come in and do exactly the same in a Milan shirt to fire us back up the table and competing at the level we should be at.
