Trio of targets linked as Milan eager to add firepower to Allegri’s attack

AC Milan are reportedly looking to bolster our attacking options for next season, with three forwards paired with a possible move.

While the expectation is that Tammy Abraham will return to Roma when his loan spell ends this month, the Rossoneri will be left with Santiago Gimenez and Luka Jovic as our options to lead the line.

The latter will surely be considered available on the transfer market as we have to raise the quality level of the squad in Massimiliano Allegri’s first year back at the helm while Gimenez will likely be assessed in pre-season, and so there is a need to strengthen our options in the attacking third.

According to Matteo Moretto, Milan are said to have made an inquiry for Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez, despite the 25-year-old continuing to struggle with the Premier League champions.

The Uruguayan frontman managed just seven goals and seven assists in 47 appearances last season, and so his inconsistency and frustrating form would arguably make any move from us a questionable one.

Meanwhile, Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Atalanta striker Mateo Retegui remains our priority target to add firepower to the squad, and fresh talks have been held over a potential deal for the 26-year-old, who enjoyed a prolific campaign last season with 28 goals and nine assists in 49 outings.

However, he’s not the only player mentioned in that report, as it’s also noted that Milan are keen on Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic, but there could be a stumbling block to that particular swoop as his wages are said to be a potential problem.

It seems as though Milan are weighing up our options currently as we go in search of a clinical frontman to add goals and assists in the final third, and who can be a focal point up top in leading the line in Allegri’s preferred system and style of play.

Based on the reports above it’s suggested that Retegui is in pole position at this point to become our solution in attack, but time will tell if a deal can be done with Atalanta, and if not, who we turn to as a possible alternative option.

What is clear for now is that plenty of changes are happening at Milan this summer and it promises to be fascinating transfer window as we rebuild.
