Mattia Caldara’s agent has confirmed that he’ll return to AC Milan at the end of the season, while the Rossoneri are said to have an interest in Lorenzo Insigne.
Caldara, 26, rejoined Atalanta on loan in an 18-month deal in January 2020, and so that agreement is set to come to an end this summer.

Following an injury-plagued stint with Milan, the Italian centre-half would have hoped to rediscover his best form while back with his former club and perhaps earn a permanent switch, but he has been limited to just 26 appearances since going back.
As per his agent, Beppe Riso, Caldara will return to Milan at the end of the season, and so now the Rossoneri management have a decision to make this summer over his future.
“He will return to Milan,” he told Tuttosport, as reported by Football Italia.
With Alessio Romagnoli, Simon Kjaer, Matteo Gabbia and the possibility that we sign Fikayo Tomori outright from Chelsea given he has impressed during his loan stint thus far, Stefano Pioli has options in that department already.
In turn, it remains to be seen if Caldara is added to that pool of talent, or if Milan are open to discussing a new move elsewhere ahead of next season.
Meanwhile, respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has been discussing Lorenzo Insigne’s future at Napoli, and he has suggested that Milan are interested in the Italian international and so a move could be explored this summer.
“For the first time I believe that Insigne wants to understand if there is the possibility of going somewhere else, always with all respect for Napoli,” he told Sky Sport Italia, as reported by MilanNews.
“It is no coincidence that they went to Casa Milan, it is no coincidence that you go to Milan if not to understand what kind of interest there can be from Milan, and the interest from Milan under certain conditions is there, but it’s true that he earns a lot. It is not known how much Napoli can give him away but Milan have set their sights on the player as it is normal.”
Insigne, 29, is enjoying another fine season in Naples, scoring 15 goals and providing nine assists in 40 appearances.
Given it’s his hometown club, it seems unlikely that he would leave, especially for a Serie A rival, and so it remains to be seen if this was perhaps a ploy from his agent to try and force Napoli’s hand when it comes to renewal talks.
Nevertheless, given the quality that he possesses, Di Marzio’s point is a fair one that it’s natural Milan would monitor the situation, but time will tell if a move to the San Siro this summer is a realistic option.
