Contact made with Milan ace’s representatives over potential exit

Besiktas have reportedly made contact with AC Milan forward Noah Okafor’s representatives ahead of a potential transfer swoop.

The 25-year-old arrived from RB Salzburg in 2023, but it hasn’t proven to be a wise piece of business from the Rossoneri given the Swiss international has contributed just seven goals and five assists in 53 appearances.

Having been shipped out on loan to Napoli in January where he continued to struggle to establish himself, it was perhaps already clear that his future lies elsewhere, but it still looks that way despite a coaching change with Massimiliano Allegri taking charge of Milan this summer.

According to MilanNews, Besiktas have made contact with Okafor’s representatives, and it’s suggested that if he is open to the idea of a move to the Turkish outfit, discussions will then begin between the two clubs to try and find an agreement on a move.

It’s unclear at this stage if it would be a loan switch or a permanent deal, but from a Milan perspective, the club will surely prefer to offload Okafor on a permanent basis and continue to give Allegri space in his squad and financial backing to make the necessary changes to ensure we’re more competitive moving forward.

Although he is a talented player and scored some decisive goals for us along the way, Okafor hasn’t proven that he’s up to the task of delivering for Milan on a consistent basis at the top level, and so if we are able to secure a decent transfer fee for him to reinvest back into the squad, that seems like the best solution for both parties.

The Swiss forward will likely get a more prominent role at Besiktas to get back to playing his best football, while Milan will have the opportunity to try and find an upgrade in that department to provide Allegri with more quality in the final third on a more consistent basis.

It’s proving to be a fascinating summer at the club given the rebuild taking place headed up by sporting director Igli Tare and Allegri, and it’s hoped that not only do we have a stronger squad by the end of the transfer window compared to the one that started it, but that it’s much more suited to Allegri’s preferred system, identity and style of play moving forward.
