Agreement touted as Milan look to finalise signing after lengthy pursuit

AC Milan have reportedly reached an agreement with Club Brugge over the signing of Ardon Jashari in a deal worth €34m plus add-ons.

The Rossoneri have been linked with a swoop for the 23-year-old for weeks, as he was evidently earmarked as a priority transfer target to bolster our midfield options ahead of the new season.

According to Antonio Vitiello, after weeks of talks and rejected offers, Milan have finally now reached an agreement with the Belgian side over the signing of Jashari, with the deal expected to cost €34m plus add-ons.

The transfer isn’t quite complete yet though as the deal will need to be finalised in the coming days, but it certainly sounds as though there has been a decisive breakthrough in talks, and we’ll have another midfield reinforcement available to Massimiliano Allegri ahead of his first campaign back at the helm.

Milan have already moved for Luka Modric and Samuele Ricci this summer after the departure of Tijjani Reijnders, and while it’s hoped that Jashari adds more quality to that department and plays a key role in helping us become more competitive, the expectation is that we could see more exits in order to make space in the squad and balance the books.

For now though, should Jashari arrive, that will be another crucial signing to help Allegri implement his preferred system and style of play, and with reinforcements arriving in other departments still too, it will be a much changed Milan side that begins the new season against Bari in the Coppa Italia on August 17, before we host Cremonese in our Serie A opener a week later.

Naturally, it will need time for the new faces to settle and adapt, but it’s hoped that our recruitment this summer is spot on in terms of personnel, and although we’ve addressed key flaws and voids, those coming in must prove that they were the right choices to help us take a step up in competing at the top level.

Given Milan never gave up in our pursuit of Jashari, much will certainly be expected of him moving forward, provided that the switch goes through without any late issues now that an agreement is said to have been reached.
