AC Milan are reportedly in continuous contact with Alvaro Morata’s representatives ahead of a potential transfer swoop for the Spaniard.
The 31-year-old is currently on international duty with Spain at EURO 2024, and is coming off the back of a positive season with Atletico Madrid, having scored 21 goals and provided five assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.

Morata has a wealth of experience at the top level having also had spells at Juventus, Real Madrid and Chelsea, amassing a total of 216 goals and 82 assists in 589 career appearances.
Further, he’s also bagged 36 goals in 77 caps for Spain, and so he certainly has the experience, track record and quality to fill a glaring void in the current Milan squad.
According to Antonio Vitiello, Milan are in continuous contact with his agents, and he suggests that there is ongoing talks over lowering his current €6m-a-year salary.
With no agreement on personal terms as of yet and with no mention of a deal between the two clubs, it seems as though there is still a lot of work to do in order to make this move happen, and so it remains to be seen if Morata arrives as our solution up front, or if an alternative option is preferred.
The report from MilanNews expands on the claim above though, as it’s suggested that Milan are ready to pay his €15m release clause, and so time will tell if the potential swoop gathers pace.
What is clear though is that following the departure of Olivier Giroud this summer, the Rossoneri must bring in a new frontman capable of leading our line and who suits Paulo Fonseca’s style of play and structure, and so if Morata ticks the right boxes, he could be the main target in the coming weeks.
Given the multiple areas of the squad in need of reinforcements, it will be interesting to see what Milan and Fonseca target as a priority, but with the squad set to return for pre-season next week, it’s hoped that we speed up our recruitment drive as giving new players as much time as possible with our new head coach will no doubt help their adaptation and settling in process.
