AC Milan are closing in on confirming the signing of Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid, with the player himself revealing that his move is on course.
The 31-year-old has enjoyed a successful career to date after spells with Real Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea and Atleti, while he has 36 goals in 80 caps for Spain.

In turn, he brings plenty of experience and quality which he has proven over a consistent and lengthy period of time, and it looks as though he’ll begin the next chapter of his career with the Rossoneri.
“I’m going to undergo a medical and then yes, I will join AC Milan,” he told COPE, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano. “I said goodbye to my teammates, Simeone, the board… it’s better to part ways when you can’t give your 100%.”
Romano has previously reported that Milan have triggered the Spanish captain’s €13m release clause, while an agreement has been reached on personal terms, and so it looks as though this could be the first marquee signing under Paulo Fonseca.
Aside from his goals, Morata has showcased a key ability to offer a focal point up front and to link things together with his technical ability and physicality, and that could be crucial for the new Milan boss in terms of the style of play he will want to implement.
Particularly after losing Olivier Giroud this summer, it was a glaring void that needed to be filled with a similar profile to give us that dynamic in the final third, and so it’s hoped that if it is indeed Morata who arrives to address that concern, he’ll be up to the challenge of delivering on a consistent basis to help us become genuine contenders for major titles again.
Milan do have Luka Jovic in reserve currently and so the expectation is that this won’t be the last signing we make to bolster our attacking options. For now though, hopefully we’ll see Morata’s deal secured before too long, with the Rossoneri still needing to strengthen in other areas of the squad too.
