AC Milan transfer news: Advanced talks to sign Origi, salary touted

AC Milan are reportedly edging closer towards securing a deal to sign Liverpool forward Divock Origi this summer.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed stints at Lille and Wolfsburg, but he’s made his mark at Liverpool in recent years with 40 goals and 17 assists in 171 appearances for the Reds.

He’s also bagged three goals in 31 caps for Belgium, and so he certainly has the pedigree and experience at the top level for both club and country having scored some key goals for the former in particular.

With his current contract set to expire this summer though, it appears as though Milan are set to make their move, with Antonio Vitiello noting in his tweet below that talks with the Belgian have reached an advanced stage, and although there are some details that still need to be sorted out, there is confidence an agreement will be reached.

Further, it’s suggested that Origi could be handed a deal worth around €4m-a-year, and so it remains to be seen if Milan can wrap up a move this summer.

On one hand it would make sense to add the Belgian international on a free transfer to bolster our firepower and give Stefano Pioli another option in that department as we look to compete on multiple fronts.

However, it could also be argued that with the boost of Champions League income, Milan do need to start targeting more elite players sooner rather than later if we are to continue to take steps in the right direction to become competitive at the top level in the major competitions year in and year out.

Origi could help us with that, but it’s hoped that isn’t the start and end of our transfer window in terms of attacking players, as there is much more needed in that area of the squad to improve us moving forward.
